The Fur Hood has a long tail and short mantle covering the shoulders. It covers the sides and top of the head and can be made to cover parts of the face as well, while the mantle overlays the shoulders to just beyond the joints and to cover the chest and back to the upper ribs.
The hood is made from felted, green wool with light green embroidery and fitted with grey-green fur around the face and at the rim of the mantle, while the inside is lined with soft, comfortable cotton.
It is adjustable with flat split-leather cords at a the throat allowing the wearer to adjust the fit and openness of the hood. Hoods are often associated with the medieval period, where they were a common garment worn by all social classes in a huge variety of forms and shapes, but have been in use since ancient times.
